Sustainable consumption

It is now commonly recognized that changing current unsustainable consumption practices is crucial for sustainable development.
To come to terms with sustainability problems we need to reduce the resource intensity of everyday practices. This involves both consuming differently and consuming less. In this research theme we set out to understand how more sustainable forms of consumption emerge, develop, and are stabilized.

Central questions addressed in this research theme are:

  • How do sustainable consumption practices emerge and become stabilized?
  • How can unsustainable consumption routines and habits be changed? What role can corporations, NGO´s and government play in enabling and shaping sustainable consumption?
  • What does the digitalization of society mean for sustainability communication and sustainable consumption?
