National consumption patterns

Within the theme National consumption patterns CCR conduct research that takes its starting point in overall patterns of consumption. In some sense all research at CCR is about consumption patterns, but what is specific to this theme is the analytical level. Research is conducted with a bird’s eye view in order to provide an overall picture of consumption.

A key element is the Consumption Report that is published annually since 2007. The report provides an overview of the consumption of Swedish households and how it has evolved over the past decade. In each report one or more areas are analyzed in more depth by consumer researchers from different disciplines.

We cooperate with the SOM institute at the University of Gothenburg, among other things by contributing with survey questions for the yearly national SOM survey. The results from the SOM surveys are used in the Consumption Report and as a statistical basis for other research projects at CCR.

We also conduct commissioned research on behalf of other organisations. Over the years we have conducted several projects on behalf of the Swedish Consumer Agency. Our task has been to contribute with overviews of existing knowledge as well as perform consumption studies within different areas. In many of the projects quantitative and qualitative studies are combined in order to present breadth and depth in the analysis of the phenomenon in question.

Most of the research is reported in Swedish. However, in the annual Consumption Report there is a summary in English. You can find all Consumption Reports here.
