[7 Jun 2016] "Probably the biggest influence plastic has had on consumers is teaching them how to waste. It is wrong to blame consumers for being wasteful, this practice has been foisted on them." So says Gay Hawkins, Professor of Cultural Studies and Social Theory at Western Sydney University. She studies the role of plastics in consumer society and visits Centre for Consumer Science on the 13-18th of June. We invite you to participate in an open seminar. As a consequence more and more feminists turn to the market instead of the state to promote policies of gender equality. But what happens when ideas of gender equality meet profit interests and market logic? Magdalena Petersson McIntyre will study this question in the project Market Feminism - Commercialization of Gender and Equality.
[11 Jan 2016] The increase in Swedish meat consumption per person and year have come to a halt. And the consumption category that increased the most during 2014 was purchases by non-resident households in Sweden. These are two conclusions drawn in the yearly Consumption Report, published by Center for Consumer Science.
[5 Nov 2012] The Swedish Research Council has granted SEK 19.8 million to the research project Digcon: digitalizing consumer culture. Researchers from the following institutions are collaborating on this international, multidisciplinary project: the Centre for Consumer Science and the Centre for Retailing at the School of Business, Economics and Law of the University of Gothenburg, the Stockholm School of Economics and the University of Toulouse II (Université Toulouse II).
